Hit and Miss

She was more disappointed about their "date" than she let on.

.x.x.x.

Annabeth leaned against the bright yellow taxi door and sighed heavily. Just when she had thought things were going to get better, more monsters waltzed their way into her life. And on today of all days.
Why, O why did it have to be today?
Why did it have to be the day that she was going to the movies with Percy, whom she hadn't seen in almost six months? Why?
She had been looking forward to catching a movie and just hanging out with the boy she might as well have called her best friend. She wanted a break from fighting monsters like she had been all spring back in San Francisco. She wanted to relax on the last day she would spend before heading off to camp. But no! Apparently there was some huge emergency that couldn't wait, and they had to go to camp right away.
Needless to say, Annabeth was in a very rotten mood.
Percy didn't seem to be in the brightest of moods either. As the taxi made its way to Camp Half-Blood, he barely spoke at all, the last thing he had talked about with her having been Grover. But that made sense, since he had recently been attacked by cheerleading monsters and accused of setting a school on fire. This had probably been the worst day for him in quite a while.
And with the way she was acting, he probably thought she was mad at him, which would only worsen his mood.
"Hey," she began quietly. He snapped up from his slouched position and turned to face her.
"Yeah?"
"Um…" Annabeth stopped, realizing she hadn't exactly planned out what she wanted to say. She ran a hand through her ponytail as she searched for the right words. "I think- Uh, we can go to the movies later. Some other time."
Percy simply shrugged. "I know."
She frowned at his response. He shouldn't have sounded as bored and unaffected as he had. Wasn't he upset about missing their movie date? Just a little?
Annabeth let out a small huff as she leaned back against the door.
Because it wasn't like she was actually going to tell him she was disappointed about missing the movie.
